MFA First Year Show, cyanotypes on cloth, 2014.

As part of my final MFA first year exhibition I used recent experiments in cyanotype photograms combine impetuous text and foul textures that focuses on a long line of mental disease that bedevils my female ancestors, blood related or otherwise. From the archived manuscripts of Virginia Woolf, where her brilliance is met with winded grief, to my grandmother and mother's failed early marriages and child rearing, to my own passive overcompensation in relationships, the works reveal a tightrope of romantic gestures and subtle crazy. Letters were cut from rubylith and exposed in the window from studio in indirect sunlight and overcast Washington days.
